Volunteer Job Descriptions

 

 
Marshal  
Volunteers on the marshals committee are responsible for crowd and noise control on the golf course. Marshals may also be asked to be spotters for golf balls.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 100 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 45
 
Shift Days: Tuesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 10 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: Shifts may vary from four to six hours in duration.
Duties: Spotting, crowd control, controlling noise.
Skills Required: Assertive/take charge personality. A good eye and understanding of golf is beneficial.
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
Media Services  
Volunteers joining the media committee assist with the media personnel on-site with course direction and media room hosting.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 12 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 8
 
Shift Days: Wednesday, August 9 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: Shifts may vary from four to six hours in duration.
Duties: Assisting with media in accessing course and hosting media room.
Skills Required: Friendly, outgoing personality.
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
Scoring  
The scoring committee is the largest committee of the tournament. There are numerous positions available in the scoring committee: Walking Scorer, Standard Bearer, Leaderboards, Starter, Runner, Scoring Central
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 100 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 44
 
Shift Days: Thursday, August 10 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: Shifts may vary from four to eight hours in duration.
Duties: Walking Scorers - Walk eighteen holes with a group and enter scores. Standard Bearers - Walk eighteen holes carrying a small leaderboard. Leaderboards - Updating leaderboards around the golf course.
Skills Required: Many roles require the ability to walk 18 holes
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
Transportation  
Volunteers on the transportation committee drive players to the course, host hotel and airport. This committee will also be required to transport spectators to the golf course from designated parking lots.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 40 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 26
 
Shift Days: Sunday, August 7 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: Shifts may vary from four to eight hours in duration.
Duties: Driving golf professionals from hotel and airport to the host course. Vehicles are provided.
Skills Required: Valid Drivers License.
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
Volunteer Services  
Members of the volunteer committee assist with the registration of volunteers each day and may also be asked to troubleshoot on-site by filling last minute positions
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 12 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 13
 
Shift Days: Thursday, August 10 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: Shifts may vary from four to eight hours in duration.
Duties: Register volunteers on-site, and provide manpower support to all other committees as required.
Skills Required: Flexible, don't mind doing a variety of jobs.
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
Operations  
The Operations committee is responsible for the Set up and Take down of the event equipment and signage prior to the Tournament
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 8 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 4
 
Shift Days: Wednesday, August 2nd to Friday August 4th, August 7th and August 13th.
Time Committment: The set up will operate from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Roping of the course will be Sunday, August 7th at 5:00pm. Take down will start around 3:00pm to whenever finished. Positions are available in the morning or afternoon. Shifts are generally 4 to 6 hours lo
Duties: Heavy lifting, building of signs, pounding in stakes and roping off the course.
Skills Required: No specific skills required
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be instructed at the time of shifts.
Parking  
The Parking committee is responsible for managing and manning the off-site Volunteer/Spectator parking lot.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 10 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 0
 
Shift Days: Thursday, August 10 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: 6:00am to 6:00pm. Thursday/Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm Saturday/Sunday Positions are available in the morning or afternoon. Shifts are generally 4 to 6 hours long.
Duties: Managing and manning the off-site Volunteer/Spectator parking lots.
Skills Required: No specific skills required
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
Standard Bearer  
A Standard Bearer carries a small leaderboard with one group of players for eighteen holes.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 25 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 5
 
Shift Days: Thursday, August 10 to Sunday, August 13
Time Committment: Shifts may vary from five to six hours in duration.
Duties: Volunteers on this committee walk all 18 holes for about 5 hours with their group while carrying a standard that weighs 5-7 pounds. The standard displays the player names and scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis for each player in that group.
Skills Required: Require the ability to walk 18 holes (Age 13 and older)
Training: A small amount of training is required. Volunteers will be requested to attend a volunteer orientation session.
